Some of the most significant places I#039;ve ever walked are open fields, they are my mountain tops, flat summits. Fellas like Wendell Berry or Edward Abbey have written beautifully about the importance of the wilderness and what it means for our souls, they#039;ve given words to how I feel about places like this.

But there#039;s another side of it all too. I really just missing riding on my grandaddy#039;s Allis Chalmers D15 tractor, standing on that back blow, helping him dig deeper into Carolina soil.

I dunno, fields just feel extra important this morning.
