The sun sets tonight as we see more clearly the ugly reality of not just one but many. Of issues kept "secret" for too long. The sunsets on a girl who now knows silence doesn't keep her safe. It sets on a girl who finds her voice makes her stronger. It sets on a girl who will not feel guilty for other people's actions or shame for their violations. It sets on a girl who's rage for being gutless, turns into action towards change.
It sets and even in the dark we see we are no longer alone… courageous voices echo the same cries. Heartbreaking as it is we will overcome.
Tomorrow, with the sun, we rise together, with the hope of change pulsing in our veins. Gone are the days where monsters can over power, demean, degrade or assault us. Gone are the days where we pray for sunsets just to hide in the dark. Gone are the days where we remain silent. Change starts today…. with each of us.
