Wally used to tell Suki she was was the most quot;utopian bunnyquot; he#039;s ever seen. He wasn#039;t exactly using the word correctly, but he felt very strongly that no other word so perfectly described her. (And he even looked through all of his old vocabulary quizzes that he#039;d saved from second grade.) Suki asked me yesterday if she#039;s still a utopian bunny now that Wally#039;s gone. I told her that she#039;ll always be a utopian bunny. She wanted to be sure that quot;Wally#039;s followersquot; agree. Please feel free to leave Suki a comment below.

Suki and I are so very touched by the recent outpouring of love and support following the loss of our beautiful Wally Bunny. In spite of our sadness, we are so happy to know how loved Wally was and all the special ways he impacted people#039;s lives. Please know how certain I am that Wally is doing just fine; can you imagine how ECSTATIC he is about his new angel wings?! If you listen carefully enough, you might be able to hear him announce, quot;I#039;m an ANGEL BUNNY!quot; as he leaps among the clouds.

I have some very sad news. Wally died on Wednesday night of a liver lobe torsion. He was his happy self when I left for work, and when I returned, he could hardly move. I took him to the ER and he died within the hour. My brother wrote me an email that I think captures Wally perfectly. I’ll share a part of it: quot;Wally’s light was so bright, he was like a shooting star. Shooting stars are brilliant and leave everyone in awe, they just sometimes don’t last long. But their memory lasts forever.” Wally was such a special bunny rabbit with a truly magical spirit. I love him so much and miss him with all my heart.

Wally, Instagram photo, While I #039;m truly honored that | Latest Wally’s Instagram Picture

While I#039;m truly honored that Wally is so loved, it#039;s unwise to buy an Angora without sufficient knowledge or preparation. Wally is my third rabbit, and even after years of learning about rabbit behavior, care, and safety, Angoras#039; special grooming needs have required a great deal of patience, time, and dedication. Rabbits are neither simple nor easy pets and can live for 10+ years. Behaviors that can be typical for rabbits (meaning that they are simply being rabbits!) include chewing on fabric, wood, and furniture, peeing on beds and couches, biting, scratching, thumping, hiding in small spaces, being fearful and mistrustful of people, struggling for freedom when being picked up, and skillfully escaping enclosures. You must be ready to appropriately respond to these behaviors and willing to understand what your rabbit is attempting to communicate and then listen to your rabbit. I really believe that there are no quot;badquot; rabbits (whether they destroy your sofa or bite you with seemingly no apparent reason) – there are only people who have unrealistic expectations of the greatly misunderstood rabbit. Happy rabbits require a significant amount of research and preparation. Angoras require even more. Please, don#039;t get a rabbit – and especially not an Angora – if you cannot be certain that you can provide the rabbit with an environment and level of care that is critical to the bunny#039;s wellbeing. This includes spaying/neutering, paying for vet bills, never confining them solely to small cages, litter box training, understanding that many rabbits do not tolerate being picked up or handled by children, buying fresh greens several times per week, providing unlimited hay, and being observant of their eating and elimination patterns, as they are masters at hiding health problems because they are prey animals. Rabbit.org is an informative website. If you cannot follow all guidelines on this website, you may not be ready for a rabbit, which suggests that an Angora would be a very difficult first rabbit. Thank you for reading!

quot;TA-DA! Guess whose book came out today?quot; (Hint: See orange lettering on cover.) P.S. A note from me, Molly: Since when did my life include publishing a book?! 🤗 What a surreal and magical thing! The book is truly adorable and it#039;s been officially classified as quot;utopianquot; by Wally. We REALLY hope you love it!

Wally and I have been traveling! Our first adventure was a flat tire. When AAA arrived, Wally asked to watch the mechanic so that next time he#039;d be able to change the tire himself. The mechanic looked at Wally in disbelief because he#039;d never met a bunny who was so eager to learn to change a flat tire. That#039;s my Wally.
