I need 2 minutes of your time, scroll
Growing up, I never thought I#039;d lose most of my friends I grew up with to drugs. I thought we#039;d all live forever and we laughed about being old. Unfortunately our parents are out living our generation.
In the 90#039;s, 00#039;s and still to this day, doctors prescribed opioids for everything. Headache, neck pain, or just any feeling of discomfort. I refused to take it, because I didn#039;t like the way I felt.
My older brother and best friend, took fast to this mental escape of drug use. After a decade of hurting himself and the people that loved him most. He has a beautiful daughter and even then he was still struggling to stay clean. It took him losing his best friend to an overdose for him to finally hit rock bottom and accept the help that he needed.
I flew home that day to Atlanta, for 24 hours he really listened and we went to church together, where he admitted he didn#039;t want this life anymore.
Fast forward 48-72 hours He tried to find every excuse to not go. Drugs created an alternate safe reality for him. It was an escape. He didn#039;t want to go back to the real world. He couldn#039;t see the light at the end of the tunnel.
He was on the brink of losing it all if he didn#039;t. He was so upset that he was in rehab for the first 30-45 days. Then I finally got the call and the thank you that I#039;ve been dying to hear.
I#039;m proud to say he#039;s over 2 years sober and our family is whole again. His daughter is growing up with the father she deserves.
What I#039;m trying to say is, you#039;re not doing anyone a favor by staying quiet. You can#039;t come after people from a place of anger, but love and compassion.
Take away all the excuses. And give the options to achieve sobriety.
It#039;s hard to talk to people, because it#039;s quot; Not Your businessquot; or quot;You#039;re not perfectquot; but it is your business and you are the perfect person to help someone in need!
If you have a problem or know someone with a problem, your silence isn#039;t doing anyone any good. Drugs will make people the best liars in the world. They might hate you or be mad for a while. But it#039;s worth it!

Every week I go to the @teslamotors supercharger in Burbank and I always see this man, hammering out copper or collecting bottles. He always greets me with a smile and I always buy him a drink at the CVS or Ralph#039;s.
Tonight, instead of having dinner with friends. I had dinner with my new Friend Monty. Monty has been on his own since he was 13 and has a work ethic that I could only dream of having! All of his money goes to helping other homeless people and paying off tickets, so he can get his drivers license back. He lives behind the Home Depot in Burbank. You can find him most nights at the CVS or Ralph#039;s on E. Alameda and S Fernando Blvd.

This man is truly a light in a dim world. If you see him, encourage him, bless him and shake his hand!
