#TeresaPalmer ✨ Mothering the mother ✨ In many cultures around the world the first 4-5 weeks postpartum is looked at as a time of restoration, connection, healing and nurturing as the mother is taken care of by their village. Nourishing meals are cooked, the house is cleaned, the mothers body massaged, and she is encouraged to nap and bathe and stay in her pjs all day while bonding with her new little love. Many mothers aren’t afforded the opportunity to take such a glorious amount of time away from her responsibilities (other children/work!) So these slow lazy days are just a distant dream for them. If I could gift any mother something it would be this lying in period with her babe, a time to recover, connect and lean in to this new transitional season of her life. This go around I promised that I would fight my tendency to just get amongst it right after the birth, I’ve always taken a week or sometimes only a few days “off” before slotting right back in to life as I know it albeit with another child in tow. When Prairie was 6 days postpartum my husband had to return back to the states (for an amazing gig) so I recalibrated and just “got on with it”. Solo parenting 4 kids is no joke and my self care has plummeted but my besties (knowing me all too well) pitched in to get me a month long service that is dedicated to remembering the mother; tending to her needs, nourishing her with healthy organic foods, healing treatments and soulful connections. Today I had my second treatment of @thegoldenmonth and as I looked up at the clouds from the massage bed I thought about how amazing women are and how so many of us are unconsciously resistant to accepting the kind of nurturing of our selves that we give to others on a daily basis. So thank you Nadia & Carla from @thegoldenmonth for coming up with this beautiful experience for postpartum mamas. The Golden Month is available all over Australia.
